Chrysler Teams with Celebrities to Aid Haiti

Nominees, presenters and performers arriving to “The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards” will have an opportunity to help raise money for Haitian relief efforts with a simple signature. Positioned at the entrance of the Beverly Hilton Hotel is President and Chief Executive Officer for the Chrysler Brand, Chrysler Group LLC, Olivier Francois’ personal car, a Chrysler 300C.  Francois donated his vehicle so that attendees to the ceremony could place their signature upon the sedan which could then be donated for auction to specifically raise money for Haiti relief efforts. The Chrysler 300C that will be donated for auction is expected to raise approximately 1 million dollars.

The Chrysler brand, together with Dick Clark Productions, has also partnered with Stars for a Cause to donate six eco-friendly accessorized vehicles that will be auctioned off to select celebrity charities. Nominee Meryl Streep; presenters Christina Aguilera, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Felicity Huffman; and actor Colin Firth will arrive to the Golden Globes in their select Chrysler 300 eco style limited edition vehicle, which will be donated and auctioned to the charity of their choice.

Based off of the Chrysler 300C, the most-awarded vehicle in the industry, the eco style edition vehicles are accessorized with eco-friendly materials such as cork, bamboo, recycled jute carpeting and suede seat inserts and feature refurbished wheels while providing high-end luxury and elegant design.  The vehicles feature a refined interior, premium technology and offer fuel-efficient performance and excitement.

An Exciting Next Few Years for Chrysler/Fiat

While many thought the Chrysler Dodge Jeep lineup in the next few years would be minimal, there are, in fact, more new models slated to be rolled out from now through 2013 than there are to be axed. Many of these new models will be produced in partenership with Chrysler’s new mate, Fiat.

For Dodge, an all new Columbia Charger is expected sometime in 2010. A new small car, in partnership with the Fiat Group, will be produced in 2013. A new mid-size truck with a unibody will replace the Dakota in 2011. And for commercial use, a van and small commercial truck (shared from Fiat) will be produced in 2012.

Jeep will lose the Jeep Commander, but a new diesel Wrangler model will come in the end of 2010. A new small SUV with a 2013 launch will likely be imported from Fiat.
A new small crossover also with a 2013 launch wills consolidate both the Compass and Patriot.  The Jeep Liberty will be replaced by a Fiat product in 2013, but will likely carry on the Liberty name. And the Jeep Grand Cherokee redesign debuts in the end of 2010 as a 2011 model.

Chrysler gets a brand new logo along with a few new models. There’s a new Chrysler 300 model coming in 2010. A new Fiat-sourced small car will arrive in 2013. A C-segment vehicle, sourced from Fiat, will replace the PT Cruiser within the next few years. A new midsize crossover vehicle will launch in 2013, sourced by Fiat. A new redesigned Town & Country will launch in 2014. And a replacement for the Sebring is scheduled to appear in the latter part of 2010 as a mid sized sedan.

A Green ‘Family’ Concept From Chrysler: The ecoVoyager

chrysler-ecovoyager-ny-autoshow

The Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept is a four-door, four-passenger vehicle that is sleek, futuristic, and all American. Its absence of a traditional powertrain setup – allowed designers to make uniquely efficient use of the cabin’s parameters. The ecoVoyager also mates an advanced lithium-ion battery pack to an advanced hydrogen fuel cell, resulting in a vehicle with a range of more than 300 miles that emits zero emissions. The ecoVoyager uses a 45 kw fuel cell stack and 268 hp (200 kw) electric motor plus “Range-extended Electric Vehicle technology” to deliver the vehicle 300 miles before refueling. The ecoVoyager is able to travel the first 40 miles on the 16 kw lithium-ion battery pack alone before needing an assist from the fuel cell stack and 10,000 psi hydrogen tanks.

ecovoyagerThe Chrysler ecoVoyager This design leaves a roomy interior for driver and passengers alike. The Chrysler ecoVoyager can go from 0 – 60 mph less than 8 seconds with a top speed of 115 mph. This concept car features panoramic glass for increased visibility and includes a twin sunroof. The interior features gauges the driver can see over the steering wheel rather than through it, three camera images of the world outside the vehicle, and the rear seat passengers can enjoy a movie without disturbing the driver because of direct sound technology. Each of the four bucket seats in the ecoVoyager is contoured for personalized comfort.

At the moment this Chrysler model is certainly still in the concept stage, technological goals must be reached to make this a production worthy, affordable vehicle.  Still, it is interesting to glimpse into what very well may be the future of the automobile.
